Hi
Gang,
Thanks for
being here, I value every one of you
and truly hope that you become successful online!
First off,
let me say that I am not "jumping the bandwagon"
so to speak by writing this special edition and by mentioning
John Reese.
There are
no affiliate links here to John's course and I'll only
mention John Reese as a matter of maiking a point.
This is truly
just an edition that relates to some basics of Internet
marketing for the newbie AND seasoned I-net marketer.
The thoughts contained in this article were 100% sparked
by the roll out of John Reese's product.
This is a
special issue because I am not including any articles,
this is more of a letter from me to you. Hopefully it
will help you do what you'd like to do online and look
positively on the future.
"Nothing
ventured, nothing gained"
Things have
gotten crazy lately on the Internet with John Reese's
marketing blitz. There were lots of people looking forward
to his course being released and lots of people promoting
it.
On the forums,
there were countless people asking about who John Reese
was, whether they should buy the course or not, and asking
if anyone could shed some light on John's level of credibility.
All very
standard things for someone who didn't know who John was
and all doubts seemed to have been erased by other marketers
answering the posts from people asking about the course
and about John.
One marketer
answered on of these posts by saying,
"What
have you got to lose, nothing ventured, nothing gained".
He was absolutely
right...after all there is a money back guarantee attached
to John's course, so why worry?
This got
me to thinking...
These posts
made me think back on my Internet marketing life and how
it has changed over the years. Lots of products have come
and gone and, of the ones that are still here and making
money, they all have one common thread - the person who
developed the product decided to venture off and try something.
They might
not have known how successful they would be, but they
tried...they took a shot at it.
I believe
that the #1 reason (or maybe #2 reason behind not knowing
'how') that newbies don't actually ever start an Internet
business is because they are afraid to fail and don't
know where to begin.
So what's
the best advice anyone can give a newbie who wants to
start a business but hasn't?
Tough question!
I'll take a stab at some insight...
"Some things you should keep in mind.."
"I-net
Marketing Keep In Mind" item #1: If you
want to have an online business but have absolutely no
idea whatsoever what you want to build a business about,
do not let that deter you.
"Decide
to decide"...tell yourself that you will do it, that's
step 1 and is often a hurdle that never gets jumped over.
"I-net
Marketing Keep In Mind" item #2: Before
you build any web page, buy any course, get any domain
names, etc., make sure that you have a certain amount
of money that you can budget yourself for expenditures.
This will
help you plan around the timeline of your plan.
Sounds redundant
doesn't it?
It isn't...it
simply means that you have to know your limitations and
know when to buy "what" and "when"
to learn and implement certain things.
"I-net
Marketing Keep In Mind" item #3: Be patient.
You'll be so anxious to just do something that you may
do the wrong thing. Be smart, be logical, be a student.
Make a list
of the things you need to learn about to be successful
as an Internet marketer and decide which if those things
you can learn about now and which can be put off till
later.
And, when
you do get started, be patient and remember that you may
not get success instantly, it may take a while.
"I-net
Marketing Keep In Mind" item #4: Always
fully research the validity of any product before you
even consider purchasing it. Go to a forum and ask questions
about how other marketers did with the product or if they
thought it was useful.
For the newbie,
this is a killer problem...those smart sales copy writers
can make the newbie whip out their credit card pretty
easily!
"I-net
Marketing Keep In Mind" item #5: Before
deciding what your USP will be or what your web site will
actually do, make sure that you perform research regarding
the perfect target market.
Make sure
that the people who would want what you are offering actually
have a problem that needs fixing. Make sure that there
aren't many free products that solve their problem and,
if there are, make sure that you truly differentiate yourself
from them.
Make sure
- this is the biggie - that the people
who are in your target market that would want what you
have to offer are willing to pay for it!
This is a
huge problem that has resulted in endless frustration
and contributed to the statistic that 94% of all online
businesses fail.
"I-net
Marketing Keep In Mind" item #6:
Never underestimate the value of learning from other people
who have been successful. Pick an Internet marketer that
has been successful and give them a call.
Have good questions ready
and be brief. You may be surprised how much you can learn
in 1 minute on the phone with someone who is successful.
Make sure you phrase the
intro sentence right, it can make the difference between
getting good information and having the phone call cut
short.
Here's an example:
"Hi Marketer, my name is Tom and I am starting
an online business. You seem to have a successful business
and I am not sure if you accept phone calls, but I was
curious if you had 1 minute?"
It really isn't only what
you say, it is how you say it. Be respectful and be smart,
have good, extremely well phrased questions ready.
Don't ask something rudimentary
like "what do you think if this product", ask
something detailed about marketing.
"I-net
Marketing Keep In Mind" item #7: Never believe
that you don't have a product inside you somewhere. Trust
me and (everyone else) who tells you that you do in fact
have a product lurking in you somewhere, you just have
to find it.
You know
how to do something, know about a time saving or money
saving trick, you have a certain skill, you have a connection
somewhere, i.e., you know something that will translate
into a product that will sell!
Sit down
and think about all the things that you know how to do
and make a list. See which of those things may be able
to be turned into a product or eBook
or service and then do research
on the market that they may fall into.
Go to google,
type in a keyword phrase that you would use to hopefully
find your product, and then evaluate the results.
"I-net
Marketing Keep In Mind" item #8: Remember
that "small change for the better" is the way
businesses are built and use that thought to keep you
going even when you get frustrated...if you really
want it, never stop the little improvements.
Re-write
the sales
copy, write another article, learn about search
engine optimization, increase your network of successful
people, re-write your auto responder series, automate
a process, get more link partners, etc.
Keep going!
Perseverance
is a major key to online success for a newbie. And fighting
through the mess while keeping a positive outlook is worth
millions.
Here's
an example: If you read any great sales copy,
it gets you excited, it prompts you to act, to do something,
hopefully to buy. When you're excited and have a positive
outlook on doing anything that relates to the further
success of your online business, you'll do something,
you'll get more done. Its a simple fact of human life...we're
built on emotions and we usually act on emotions.
As I've looked
back over the last 2 years, I realize that I have had
lots of changes in my approach, lots of "re-doing"
and it has been a continuous journey to find what I have
been looking for.
I wouldn't
have traded it for anything.
As a newbie
or semi successful Internet marketer, you most likely
have had the same type of experience. Never forget that
business is people and the principles of a successful
business person haven't changed...ever, and they never
will.
Go back
to basics, learn what you need to do, research, study,
implement, repeat.
Sure, the
technology has changed over the years, but we humans are
still the same as we've always been.

thanks for being here, your membership to this e-zine
